SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO FALL TO RISE
As much as we don't like to admit it, none of us likes to fall. When we fall, we literally feel down and less of ourselves. Depression sets in and sometimes frustration and when not attended to, may lead to a loss of our sense of self-worth.
The month of July was just like that for me, t'is my birth month and I ought to have been happy with all the joy that comes from ones birthday (you know that feeling), however, something happened that led to another and I completely felt like I had fallen from a sky scrapper, it wasn't a good feeling and it lasted the month, pretty awful uhn! You're right it was.
However, what I've learnt from that experience is that, there's a lot more to falling than just falling. It is an opportunity. An opportunity to rise again, above the odds of what brought me down. Now, we fall sometime because of the choices we make or don't make, but when we fall, it is an opportunity to do it right. Instead, we find ourselves mourning, feeling bad for ourselves and wishing the fall had never happened.
Have you given a thought to the reason why flowers fall from trees, no matter how beautiful they are. It is so that the tree can grow, so that another season can start in the life of the tree. So also, the man who invented the light bulb was recorded to have failed a total of nine hundred and ninety nine (999) time, but do you know what he said? He said he had learnt 999 ways of how a light bulb wouldn't work. He didn't see it as a failure (although I believe that at some point, he must have felt like it), he saw it as a lesson, as experience, something that can never be taken from him.
When we fall, we gain experience, we learn lesson we never may have learnt if we never fell. When we realise that we can turn a fall into a ladder, we simply soar...(that doesn't seem to make sense but it does).
What I'm saying is, the fact that we fell doesn't mean we shouldn't rise. Coz when we do, we can rise above what brought us down, coz we would have patiently learnt how not to go in the way of what brought us down ever again, and better still, we would be able to teach others not to go in that direction. That is what makes teachers and mentors.
We should never be scared to fall or make mistakes once a while, although when falling and making mistakes become an habit, it becomes a problem which needs serious attention. When we do fall, we shouldn't let the fall cloud our judgment, we should look objectively through it all to see the light at the end of the tunnel and in the end, it would be like "we actually fell in love".
However, there's one perfect way to fall which superceeds all other falls and bears no pain on it's wings, it is falling on our knees (in prayer), coz when we do, we see clearly(vision and revelation) and when we stand, we stand tall in faith, faith to face the future without fear of another fall.
Come to think, someone(Jesus) took a fall (because we actually fell) for us many years ago without fear, coz he knew what his fall would work in us would be remarkably awesome. His fall was grace unto us and the outcome is eternal life for us.
So, you see, it's never about actually falling, it's about how well you can rise, If it had been about the falling, God would never have arranged a means of escape(the sacrifice of Jesus) for his children. He believes we can rise again, that is why he made the sacrifice for us, and that is exactly how he wants us to reason. It doesn't matter what you have done or what brought you down, it is much more about what you make out of it. Would you leave it a story or make it into a glory?
So for me, I choose to rise and stand even when I fall, it may not be easy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
So for me, I choose to rise and stand even when I fall, it may not be easy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
I hope you do the same.
Shalom!
