DAUGHTER OF DISHONOUR

I was at a meeting not too long ago when this topic dropped in my heart. No disrespect to the female gender, it's just born out of revelation.

They say "your attitude determines your altitude". This is very true in every sense of the statement. They way and manner you behave and react to issues and to life determines how far and how high you can go in life. Not only that, you attitude also says a lot about who you are and what you're capable of doing, although a lot of people pretend and hide their true nature and character, but situations will always expose who you really are. Such is the case of The Queen Vashti who dishonoured the King, simply because she felt too proud.

On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, seven eunuchs who served in the presence of King Ahasuerus, to bring Queen Vashti before the king, wearing her royal crown, in order to show her beauty to the people and the officials, for she was beautiful to behold. But Queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s command brought by his eunuchs; therefore the king was furious, and his anger burned within him.

The behaviour of Queen Vashti is quite common in many people today not just women. A lot of people have been overtaken by pride and this leads to dishonour. The title of this episode was born out of this scenario, Vashti brought dishonour not only to the king, princes and nobles, buy to herself simply because if the negative attitude. Here us what became of her.
And Memucan answered before the king and the princes: “Queen Vashti has not only wronged the king, but also all the princes, and all the people who are in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus. For the queen’s behavior will become known to all women, so that they will despise their husbands in their eyes, when they report, ‘King Ahasuerus commanded Queen Vashti to be brought in before him, but she did not come.’ This very day the noble ladies of Persia and Media will say to all the king’s officials that they have heard of the behavior of the queen. Thus there  will  be excessive contempt and wrath. If it pleases the king, let a royal decree go out from him, and let it be recorded in the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it will not be altered, that Vashti shall come no more before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal position to another who is better than she. When the king’s decree which he will make is proclaimed throughout all his empire (for it is great), all wives will honor their husbands, both great and small.”
Esther 1:16‭-‬20 NKJV

She lost her place and her authority as queen, she lost the favour she had before the king and the nobles, she lost her honour, because she dishonoured the king. Her place was given to someone else, who valued it, someone who was worth the honour.

How many times have we allowed our pride and ego to deprive us of certain opportunities that could transform our lives and take us to the next level, how many tune have we dishonoured those who can lift us up, how many times have be be then architect of our own downfall simply because of the wrong attitude.

Vashti's place was given to Esther, a worthy lady, full of respect and honour. The throne came to her on a platter of gold, even though by tradition, she may not have deserved the throne, but she got it, grace found her out and she never misused the opportunity, she was well taught. She brought glory to herself, God, her family and her nation.

For everyone who has a faulty character and has been blaming it on their nature, now is the time to change. You need to understand that it is your strength if character that will sustain you in the place of prominence that grace has got you.
The wrong attitude can spell your doom in the places you have been respected.

Now is the time to start the correction process for all negative attitude and character, so that you'll not be labelled with dishonour.

Remain blessed, living the life of purpose.
Shalom.
